I've got the lust for a JLC, not sure I can afford one straight away but want to start plotting.

Do dealers offer discounts? Would also be happy with a used one so shall be looking at Chrono 24 etc, but are there any notable Jaeger Le Coultre Used Dealers?

The Polaris Memovox Takes my fancy

https://www.jaeger-lecoultre.com/gb-en/watches/pol...

Or the standard Polaris:

https://www.jaeger-lecoultre.com/gb-en/watches/pol...

Although both look like they might have a thick case.

Then I also like most of the Master Control Range and the Master Ultra Thin

https://www.jaeger-lecoultre.com/gb-en/watches/mas...

https://www.jaeger-lecoultre.com/gb-en/watches/mas...

Are any of these available for sensible prices used, or new discounts?

I think I need to go to retailer to try some to see what they are really like, not many stockists by the look of it frown

I have discounted the Reverso for now... Wouldn't mine looking at one though, maybe a bit Marmite.

There's a Master Calendar Moonphase (jumping date complication) on TZ-UK at the moment for sensible money, and a Master Geo coming up on WC soon. The Polaris (memovox or not) is a good shout, but not inexpensive for what it is.

They are available used, at a decent discount. However they are not produced in large numbers so you might have to wait to find the one you want. The Polaris is relatively thick , I've pretty small wrists (16.5cm) but find it very comfortable.

I picked up a lightly used Master Control Chronograph Calendar for £11k earlier this year from subdial watches. The day before I bought it I tried one on in Harrods while they were still £17k-ish, they’ve gone up since. I wear it more than any of my other watches (Blancpain, Breguet, Vacheron and another JLC - extreme deep sea), they wear really well and don’t seem to attract much attention other than positive comments from watch fans. The quick release is also very handy for changing straps.

Thanks guys, making me jealous on both counts smile Both of those look great!

I wear a 40mm Explorer 2 everyday so maybe the dressier Master range would complement it well as something a bit different/smarter.

Can't go wrong with a Master Control, definitely thinner and dressier than the Polaris.

You can find brand new/unworn watches on Chrono24 from grey dealers at decent discounts, I wouldn't expect any significant discount from a JLC boutique or AD.

I have this too, I paid about £12.5k for a brand new unworn including standard strap, calf skin strap and stainless bracelet (which came direct from JLC).

It's a fantastic watch, which can be dressed up or down as much as one wants depending on the strap of choice.

The Polaris is a lovely watch too, the chronograph black dial again is very versatile with the alligator strap making it look like a dressier watch and the rubber making it a very casual option.

JLC is a great sweet spot - high end enough to feel special, under the radar enough to not worry about attracting unwanted attention.

Some decent discounts available, I bought from Watches of Mayfair who were great. If happy with pre owned there are some great deals on Watchfinder at the moment.

There's a lovely example over on Watchfinder at the minute for £8.5k

Couldn’t agree more. You got a great deal on yours, the bracelet is nearly £2k on its own I think. Next step for mine will be to add an alligator strap, JLC charge around £400 for those I think, not as bad as I thought it would be.

I looked at the Polaris and found the case height made the watch look a little bulkier than I liked but it’s more sports oriented than the Master Control, so probably needs to be.

In my mind, the Polaris replaces the Master Compressor in the range as the "sports" watch

My daily wear is a 39mm Explorer but my Polaris Date is on another level to the Rolex

JLC is a great watchmaker. Broad range of styles and complications. I’ve got a s/s Master Memovox, Memovox Deep Sea Tribute, and an Amvox DBS2 chronograph - all have an interesting complication, with the chronograph on the Amvox operated by a rocking case mechanism rather than standard push buttons

If it helps I know Dominic at Hackett Watches has a barely worn Green Polaris and Blue Boutique memovox incoming. I spoke to him the other day about something else.

I used to have a Master Calendar in steel. Lovely watch to look at and in terms of complications but I never gelled with it properly. Would like another JLC with a more colourful dial. Reverso might do the trick; I’ve not owned a rectangular watch.

They're 'boutique' only I think. I bought mine sight-unseen but so glad I bought it - it's a lovely thing. I'm trying to find a Deep Sea Chronometer to replace the Explorer as my daily but struggling to find one for sale in this country

I spent months waiting for a Deep Sea Chronograph (the 42mm, not the larger black case model - 44mm I think?). As you say, they're very rare but I picked one up from Watchfinder in October for just over £8k.

Depending on which one you want, this appeared on C24 last week:
