Hi

I had set my heart on a new Stowa Marine Original but the changes in the exchange rate plus the dreaded German VAT have pushed the price up a little too steep(About £680).

Therefore I am going to Manchester tomorrow to have a look at what else I can get for the money.

Can any of you recommend any good shops and watches I should consider? I want new only and am seeking quality as opposed to whats 'trendy'.

Cheers

There's a small shop on the corner of St Annes square.

Never been in there but they usually have somthing intresting discounted in the window.

Theres a couple around the one on St.Annes square (think the other is Mappin & Webb) and a Watches on Switzerland on the adjacent street (not sure of the name but it has Boss and a few other nice shops on it).

WoS would be a good place to start I reckon!

King's Street.

It's great for dreamin but'll you'll struggle to find much under £500.

Hi

I found this for £860;

http://www.hamiltonwatch.com/webapp/en-us/collecti...

Anyone know anything about Hamilton watches? It has a swiss movement with 25 jewels and has a clear back so that you can see it. It has no battery and self winds by way of a circular weight that moves when you do.

It looks gorgeous and is a good weight!

What do you all think?

By the way, It was at Chisholm Hunter in the Arndale.

Someone who knows more will be along soon but google tells me they've got the Valjoux 7750 movement, which I think is the same as most Tag and Breitling Chrono's?

As youre still looking and appear to be prepared to spend a little more than the cost of the Stowa (which i'd still buy!!) take a look at Sinn. The agent for Sinn is Chronomaster and whilst they dont have a shop, Neil will meet you and show you the watches you are interested in. Luckily he is Bolton based and will arranges to meet at the Reebok (which is where i met him). Although i didnt buy a Sinn, I can recommend the watches and more importantly Neil.
