What's this watch?
Discussion
I know this forum is mainly about modern stuff, but can anyone identify this watch which dates from WW2 ?
It was presented to my late father by his CO during his service in India, as a reward for exemplary conduct during the RAF "mutiny" in 1946. I believe it could be American, quite possibly standard issue to lower-ranking officers. I doubt they would have given watches to other ranks. The watch was part of a cargo of "goodies" on a USAAF Liberator which makes me think it's not a British make.
No intrinsic value, I'm sure, but I've often wondered what it was. My nephew has it now, he's a Wing Commander, and shown wearing it in the Memorial Flight Lancaster.

It looks like the name is on the face no ?
Oddly enough, I haven't seen him or spoken to him for about 12 years. We are not a close family. I think you're right, but I'd feel a prat trying to get in touch with him just to ask that. It was just curiosity that made me post this question. Not important in the whole scale of life.Forum | Watches | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
