Looking for a Christmas gift in the form of a night out somewhere for my parents between Dorchester and Exeter.

Bought them a night out at the Pig Honiton before so looking for someone else.

River Cottage is one option but I'm just not sure it's good value for money based on reviews.

Summer Lodge near Dorchester is supposed to be lovely. There are a couple of small places in/near to Dorchester in the Michelin guide - Yalbury Cottage and Sienna on the high street itself.

A little out of your geographical area but I like Shell Bay at Studland. They help support local fisherfolk, farmers and wine producers. Great views too.

Looks like I'm going to get some vouchers from here;

https://theseasideboardinghouse.com/

Looks like a decent nearly middle class establishment where I can get the parents out of their lounge wear for the day.

Shell bay I'm aware of yes the lunch there and squid is lovely smile

We had a lovely time at The Oyster & Fish House (a Mark Hix establishment) in Lyme Regis. In fact wholeheartedly recommend Lyme Regis in general.

Edit: Oops, a bit after the fact now, but maybe one for the future!

Went there for lunch a few weeks ago - the scallops to start followed by the prawn burger. Very nice indeed.

Hungry now...
