Can't believe I'm asking this but I've always been really wary of food poisoning after dodgy tuna years ago. Love fish and cook it often so no issues with that but I'm thinking the 70s throwback of prawn cocktail for starter on Christmas Day. We've a couple of local places that I can get fresh prawns from over the next couple of days but am I able to cook these on Christmas Eve and then just stick them in the fridge until Christmas Day or is that a no-no with fish based stuff? I know they only take minutes to cook but I'm looking as much prep on Thursday as possible and obviously want them cold for the cocktail.
Thanks

Yes, not an issue. Cook as you wish them chill ASAP and get them in the fridge.

Cheers Tony, was hoping for that. Just put them in a bowl of cold water to chill would be ok, yeah? Thanks

If they are full still in shell prawns. Pull the heads off and remember to devein them, the brown line on the back of the prawn. Slice it out with a shap knife. Cook your prawns then put straight in to an ice bath, water and ice for a few minutes until cool. Pat dry with kitchen roll and put it in the fridge until you need it.

Unlikely to be in shells but will be decent sized (tiger?) prawns - might see if they've any with shells on but they were struggling with demand week before last so not holding my breath

hehe Well there is that as well I suppose. I'm in NI so hopefully they can avoid the land bridge.... or catch them locally but what I know about fishing and where they can get them from at this time of year isn't a lot!
