Never had one.
Went in once, the price did not seem to be reflected in the quality of the food being served (and I've seen their deliveries come in...) so instead went to Iceland a really expensive cocktail bar and got smashed with two lovely young ladies.
biggrin
Will definitely try one in the interest of science at some point, but there are two in my locale and the one I am likely to be nearest to is just round the corner from a fantastic Greek takeaway whose mixed kebabs will always win.

Love it when they serve the right amount of fries.

Had to query it twice when I've order a large fries to share, only for the portion to be a lot smaller than its supposed to be.

Have since learned that this has been happening at a lot of branches. frown

Where is the "it's a moderately decent but unexceptional burger and priced to match" option?

Five guys is expensive but seems good quality the only thing I would say is if any one has had an in and out burger stateside will also note of a high quality burger but far far cheaper.

If that doesn't belong in the dirty takeaway thread then I don't know what does.

I bought into the hype for five guys when they first opened and queued to get in, bought 2 burgers and 2 fries, the amount of extra fries they gave was unreal so the second time I went I got one portion of fries to share and there were no extra fries included like last time and the actual portion itself was quite stingy.

I won't eat there again as the ambient music is too loud to comfortably talk to someone (the people behind the counter have trouble understanding your order so have to shout) and also how they prepare the burgers is cheating as they split the patty in half to cook it before reforming into one just before it's put into the bun which imo isn't correct.

Love it, but it is I would say somewhat over priced.

I've only ever eaten Five Guys when I'm working away from home and I can claim it on expenses.

I wouldn't go out of my way for one - I don't think the burgers are anything special and it's dear for what it is.

It is sad to hear the UK version is missing the point of Five Guys. Over here in the US they pride themselves on the huge portions because.......they are cheap! The burgers should also be reasonably priced when considering the double is the norm.

I will try again at some point but when I tried the Watford one not long after it opened I found the burger to be under seasoned and very greasy, not a pleasant experience. Also the fries were meh, though I can see how they were trying to be different and appreciated that. What did not hel is they are opposite a Burger King and about 3 minutes from a MacDs, both of which are considerably cheaper, and while their burgers are industry generic (could argue MacDs set this level) they are superior to what I ate at 5 Guys on that occasion.
