Following on from reading the “Five Guys Love it or hate it “ thread it appears there is an appetite for takeaway style food. Burgers, chicken, peri-peri, curries etc. I’m a have a go cook and wanted to ask other PH’ers to share their successes in recreating their favourite take away foods.

Something else that interests me about DIY is the ability to control what goes into it. Reduce the fat, salt etc wherever possible but still give the required flavour. The potential cost savings with higher quality ingredients also appeals.

Over to you.

What have you created and how?

i love the school of wok channel on youtube. they do a fakeaway themed recipe from time to time. i cooked up the katsu curry, and it was delicious.

Me too

Katsu Curry - easy to do with breaded chicken and a 'proper' katsu sauce. All you need then is a pan of sticky rice.

The kids have done their take on a sausage and egg McMuffin in the past - I thought it was better than the original

Wagamama have a bunch of their recipes on YouTube, I'm a big fan of the firecracker chicken and the copy is pretty close. The ingredient list is a little long but you can make a load of the sauce and keep it in the fridge.
