Hi,

Looking for a ‘date friendly’ restaurant in the area for Sunday lunch / brunch.

Any recommendations please? (preferably not Italian)

Been to Searcys Brasserie (excellent) and German Gymnasium (not that impressed)

Thanks!

Dishoom.

Bit loud though - perhaps not very datey but good food!

A booth downstairs would be ideal rather than the small tables on the first floor.

Thanks, the breakfast menu looks great. Bit early for us though, maybe next time!

Another vote for Dishoom, love it so much.

Caravan, Vinteca and Barrafina have all been good for me.

Avoid Euston. Wasn’t great before they started HS2 work, now it’s defied all expectations and got even worse.

Kings Place has a nice cafe area and outside seating by the canal - informal and has arty stuff on different floors. Not sure if they are open at a weekend though. I think it was the Green & Fortune bar I previously went to(currently closed) but they have the posher Rotunda too

It’s open all day.

Menu changes at 11am I think.

Coal Office in the Coal Drops Yard area is a favourite: coaloffice.com/#menu

Shared dishes so works well for dates

Yes, sorry I meant to say the 'day' menu seems a bit too heavy for lunch.

Looks like a fine place though so will save it for another time.

That's good to know thanks.

Were supposed to visit there in December but I left it too late to book a table.

Parrillan - Coal Drops Yard.

It's related to Barrafina.

You get your own charcoal grill at the table and cook your own food. For an early stage date it would be a great ice breaker.

I haven't checked the opening hours though.

If not there, then pretty much anywhere in Coal Drops Yard.

If it wasnt a Sunday Lunch date, then I'd suggest Supawan - for fantastic "non standard" Thai food.

Granite Square Brasserie. Had a very good lunch there just before Christmas.
