Which one is best for monitoring the core temp of your roast in the oven?

Can you get totally wire free for use in the oven while cooking? or do you need wires trapped in the door to a hub / reader ?

I have the Meater block. It was a round number birthday present, but it's worked faultlessly, grilling, roasting, in the kamado, and on the open fire.

I’ve looked at the Meater, but wanted to hear from someone who has used one.

@randlemarcus - is it accurate when enclosed in a domestic oven. Does the signal reach far enough?

Block within throwing distance of the probes, and then it goes all IoT, and you can watch the cook from Norway.

That sounds pretty cool. Have you had good results with the actual roasts you’ve cooked?

They are fab because the measure the internal meat temp and the oven (or bbq) temperature and it calculates cooking time on the fly.

Not IoT which is not always a bad thing and not 100% wire free but we have one of these...

https://www.amazon.co.uk/MasterPro-Foodies-Digital...

The specs suggest its accurate to a degree or two either way so maybe not the best but for £14.99 its takes the guess work out of things.

Is it as good as Meater? I doubt it but is it 5 times worse? Probably not.

As above - not wireless, but I have a Thermo-Pro which I use inside in the kitchen ovens and also on the BBQ outside and it’s brilliant. About £15 with various functions.

Yummly Smart Thermometer works fine. Looks rather like the basic Meater model

I looked at Meater, but read of issues with them and, more importantly, didn't want a probe the thickness of a kid's finger....

I bought an ETI wired thermometer. It came with two probes, including a very thin one. And it works brilliantly.
