Peanut butter Chunky is prime KitKat, closely followed by Popcorn Chunky

I worked at Nestlé York in my student placement in 1997 and they used to sell those (and solid Aeros) in the staff shop as 'waste'.

You could get a huge bag for next to nothing.

Apparently they’re going to start using paper wrappers again or something? Has it happened yet? Cos of all the plastic ste which they’ve finally realised is terrible for the planet.

Kitkats used as a straw for tea or coffee is a recent descovery. The chocolate melts slightly as you suck, its like dunking but better.

The ninebar packs have tinfoil and paper wraps. Plus you get nine bars!

They've never quite been the same since the 4 bar ones went to the plastic wrappers.

I loved when you'd get a solid a solid kit kat chunky, but very rarely happens nowadays frown I'm sure they've also got smaller.

Used to be an absolute dream when you’d accidentally get a solid kit Kat chunky, so much better than the normal ones, they really should make solid ones!!

I thought that was just an internet myth.
And before the internet - just a myth.

This was life: my parents, Ugandan refugees, spent the rest of their working lives in Rowntrees. The waste shop was legendary.

I was just gonna say that, they have so many flavours!

Apparently ‘kit kat’ sounds very similar to the Japanese phrase for good luck, so they are often given as a gift wishing people good luck and became very popular.

Problems are:
  • While you can get them in the UK, they are prohibitively expensive for what you get.
  • Many of the interesting ones are limited editions only
  • I keep forgetting to ask a friend with a Japanese wife if she can bring me back an assortment when she visits her family .... banghead

Anyone noticed the chocolate used on the shorter chunky bars is different ( and not in a good way) to the normal king size chunky bar ?

I always thought they should intentionally make every 1 in 20 a solid bar. Sure they'd have issues with labeling or something, but would encourage me to buy more!

I've got a hankering for a kit kat chunky now. Unfortunately I need to pop to the shops to get some paint, so may have to do a detour.
