Looking for some advice re: pros, cons, essential features etc.

I am looking at a krupps one about £350. Can't remember the model ea817040 or something similar.

If you buy a coffee from a shop every day/most days then get one.....if you want to save money. Invest in a travel mug thing as well.

If money is no object, get one anyway.

In summary, they're good, fast, convenient, and saves money. Unless you're a proper coffee connoisseur then you'll be wanting more expensive gear.

My first foray into bean to cup was with a delonghi 3200 magnifica, absolute work horse of a machine for about 5 years and would reccoment to anyone looking to delve into the world of bean to cup with a really simple and easy to use machine.

I've now go a sage barista pro espresso machine that's taken its place.

We have a de longhi prima Donna exclusiv about5 years old. Made something like 9000 coffees (it counts them) never missed a beat. Quite expensive mind

I bought a DeLonghi Magnifica Evo at the start of this year.

It was already on promotion in the January sale at MediaMarkt, then there was a VAT free weekend, so another 20% off… paid c.€330.

I love it… 1st thing I do every morning is walk in the kitchen, turn it on, feed the cats and then make a coffee.

Is it as good as a proper coffee shop coffee? No. But it’s more than good enough, and the price/quality ratio is excellent.

Obviously only as good as the quality of the beans.

Wouldn’t be without it.

Currently have one of those pod things. It's okay, but stuck with what I can get and it's expensive for pods. I also like the idea of the steam wand for milk.
It's not about the money, more about quality coffee, conveniently.

Sage Barista Express - ran it into the ground over 10 years and it eventually died. Made excellent coffee.

Replaced it around 4 months ago with a Sage Barista Impress - just as good but much more economical on coffee, I reckon around +20% as the grounds are contained before they are compressed (std version lots of the grounds spill out before you manually compress). The Impress also provides consistency once dialled in.

I got a cracking deal from Sage direct and then daughter (a nurse) chipped in with an NHS discount code so ISTR I paid less than £500.

I can recommend this machine.

I've got a Melitta TS smart B2C and it's brilliant, makes a really nice cup of coffee, with lots of different coffee types, bit more expensive than your specified budget but certainly worth the extra.

I have just bought a DeLonghi La Specialista Arte and have to say delighted with it. Makes a great coffee, must say. Great price on it at John Lewis about a month ago under £400

DeLonghi are market leaders at this price point, also worth a look, as are the smaller Melitta machines. No experience of Krups. Look for a machine that has water filters (fitted in the water tank) if possible as it dramatically reduces the frequency of descaling.

I looked into B2C machines a while ago, Lelit Anita would have been my choice, appreciate some budget creep with the Lelit.

In a soft water area, so filters not a major consideration.

Had a Gaggia Synchrony for 20 years…never any problems so long as you do a little maintenance on it such as washing out the brew head occasionally.

It’s been so good have bought a couple more as presents for friends and they’re still going strong as well.

Think the model has been replaced now (and Gaggia now owned by Phillips) but wouldn’t hesitate to buy Gaggia again. I have bought all of mine from these guys in the U.K. and always gave very good service.
