Hi all, will be in London over easter weekend and looking for some recommendations for the following types of cuisine.

Burger
BBQ
Korean
Sushi
Mexican
African
Caribbean

Will be travelling solo, so don't want anything too fancy or stuffy.

Bonus if they also serve craft beers or natural wines.

Thank you

Sushi
Enjoyed the omakase at Sushi Kyu for lunch a couple of weeks ago.

Counter with about 8 seats, some single diners some couples. Not flashy, but very good sushi indeed.

Thanks for all the recommendations, some great ones so far.

Haha, never say no to a curry and a pint.

I have that burger place saved on my list for the branch in Brixton, hopefully I make it there this time.

That sushi place looks really good, take it that it will be quite hard to get a seat though with that few places.

Mexican and the BBQ place both look on point too.

My favourite London food places are:

Bleeker / Black Bear - try both if you can - I'm planning a side-by-side comparison in a few weeks - probably in Victoria.
Speedboat / Plaza Khao Gaeng / The new one in Borough Market - absolutely fantastic Thai food - like nothing else you can find in the UK.
Sabor - downstairs at the counter - you can't book. Spanish food - dearer than the places above, but very good food. Every time we've been there have been 2 or 3 solo diners.

Seconded.

If you are in London for a Sunday, Brick Lane Market is well worth a stroll. Check out The Ribman - https://x.com/theribman

I think we booked a week, max two, in advance.

It's not fancy, but when it comes to Japanese food, I quite like simplicity. MrsLT is less keen on places with counters, especially if they're quiet.

https://rotiking.com/ is brilliant, not been for ages but the one in Euston used to have to queue for 30 minutes just to get in.

https://towerbridgecollective.co.uk/ the Banh Mi is great, genuinely good. The Ethiopian place I loved, I was going to say its great but I have no idea, I liked it but it might be terrible representation of Ethiopian food.

https://www.songque.co.uk/ does great VN food (but the waitress laughed at my terrbile, terrible Vietnamese lol)

Most of it is tourist and drunks rubbish.

This ain't though, and not far away. Tayyabs, near Royal London hospital .

For genuine home style cooked stuff, paradise, London Road Romford.

Forget craft beer and organic wine, Guinness punch is worth a try.

I took Mrs j to Rogers Kitchen in Camden a few months ago. She described the curry goat as the best she'd ever had. Having experienced her families cooking on many occasions that is a big compliment (they're from Barbados).

Do they still do that awful queuing system? I always feel like im eating in a nightclub whenever ive been there.
There are three places I will eat from on Brick Lane.... city spice, Monsoon and if not for a curry then Beigel Bake for a salt beef bagel at 2am

They do, and they don't, you can book a table but at busy times may still have a queue. Much bigger now though.

First time I went I ordered desert, the only dessert, khulfi, it came ob a stick with the bill , fk off in other words.

I think the most expensive thing on the menu, Tandoori King Prawns, is worth a visit on its own.
