Not sure if I trust them.

They kind of have a core, but not really. Are you supposed to eat it? Should they be skinned?

Cheers,

FT.

You can eat half but then the core contains pips and if you eat those a pear tree will grow inside you.

Nope. Up here we call 'em neeps, and hollow them out to make lanterns at Halloween.

You can eat the skin. Pretty safe to eat the core, too, though it isn't that pleasant. Unless there is something very wrong with your digestive system you aren't going to be growing a tree inside you.

The only real difficulty with pears is the way they are rock solid for eight weeks, then rot in four seconds when your back is turned. smile

Is it just me or do other people find pears have an almost gritty texture. Horrible little things.

Pears. love 'em. Except for Chinese pears: like eating raw potato.

Pears are fantastic with grilled halloumi!

Grill slices of Halloumi and layer with slices of pear. Drizzle with a dressing made of lemon juice and olive oil. Sprinkle over with little sliced circles of spring onion. lick
