Has anyone else noticed this? In the 90's (hey!) remember indian food was well cool and there was a lot of choice in supermarkets. They had whole aisles devoted to chicken masala! Well fk me - take a look now; there's 6 (at most) choices. And 5 of them are chicken eg chicken masala; chicken vindaloo; chicken dopiaza; chicken jafrezi etc.

WTF?! I'm fed up with it. I want decent choice, and decent variation, and NOT fkING CHICKEN EVERY TIME. Also I want hot st! Not smegging mild crap. And no, I don't wanna make it, I want to buy a fast food meal for gods sake.

what's happened? confused

Agreed.

Far nicer than you'd think, with recognisable meat and fresh herbs used.

the M&S ones always were pretty good, if very mild.

agree, best of the main supermarkets

the chicken is in nice big lumps
prefer getting them to dish it up fresh from the counter, than the pre dine ones. as you get a bit more lol

Ordinarily, I'd agree.

However Asda curries have that 'je ne sais quoi'.

Try the chicken madras.

Two snacks, two rice, two curries for £7 as part of their 'meal deal' - much as I lambast ready meals, I couldn't make it cheaper myself.

The taste's pretty good too.

Sounds like you've lost the ability to use a phone to ask your local decent Indian restaurant to cook and deliver whatever you want to order, and probably only at about 20 mins notice. smile

Ready meals are all crap. Learn to cook or get takeaways.

I disagree.

The Asda offering is rather good.

My butler swears by it.

I don't know, I dropped my wallet in Morrisons and a chap in a turban handed it back to me.

I'd basically agree, sure mass market ready meals can taste good , but anything can with enough chemicals.

If you have one of these local, give them a try. Better than anything that can be found in a super.

I had a Sainsburys chicken phal last night. Very nice indeed and properly spicy for a ready meal.

All those people saying Asda's chicken curries are the best remind me of a story in my local paper earlier this year which, judging by the amount of people commenting on it backfired for the person in question! Even in unrelated news topics now people make reference to this articlebiggrin

The Asda curries have always been the best, but next to a decent restaurant or takeaway curry, they are crap.

I'll have to try the Asda ones. I've been quite impressed with the Tesco own brand lamb Rogan Josh in the past though, I sometimes buy them from Tesco Express to microwave at work, they're surprisingly nice. Really tender, flavoursome lamb .
