Bizzare pizza meal deals

Shoot me by all means, but I live a long way away from takeaways that deliver, and Papa Johns is one of the few that do. I truly wish we had more options. But…

Online, I ordered pizza related stuff, and it came to 38.08 under a ‘deal’ plus a delivery cost.

Website failed, so I rang them, placed the exact order (mentioning the deal) and it came out to 42.08.

Person on the phone suggested adding a large bottle of Pepsi (which I don’t like) and it came down to 32.08?

Obviously I’m happy the guy gave me that tip, but what the hell? By getting something that on their own website would be 2.69 in addition to the original order, saves me a tenner?

Co-op are doing a £5 pizza meal deal - Two pizzas and 4 Budweisers for a fiver.

They're selling the 4 Buds for £5.50 on their own.

Yep, it's very odd, I'm sure they make it difficult on purpose. On the rare occasion we order a Domino's we spend more time trying to work out which meal deal is the most cost effective than we do deciding what pizza to order.

Its not just meal deals that do this kind of crazy stuff.

A year or so ago Virgin Media tried to hike my price massively so i threatened to cancel etc.

Got the cancelations team call me and looked to do a deal so i said ditch the landline from my package as we have never used it and dont even have a physical phone anymore.

Cost went up as it was part of the package!

We have been with virgin for the last 9 years - have never had , fitted or used a landline in all that time. As you say the package cost goes up if we try and remove it.

lol - was going to post this - I keep going to the co-op and accidentally coming home with this deal myself !

I got an email about this and followed the link, whereupon everything seemed to be full price and there was no sign of it being £5 for the package, but it is certainly there in the shops. I was going to go and get some, but I remembered that the pizzas I really like are £2.50 each all the time, and I don't like Budweiser. Seems a waste, on that basis.

Easy money for Virgin to do this, they knmow at least 90% never use the landline so even with free weekend calls it is money in the bank, I have a landline with free weekend calls but don't even have a phone plugged in

It doesn't cost them anything because it's simply a bit of VOIP software with a UK geographical number attached to it, so all you're getting is internet in reality. You're basically paying twice for the same service.

I went into Millets to get some washing and reproofing stuff for my coat, it was ridiculously expensive but the till girl said "if you buy something else you get it half price, Kendall mint cake is only a pound"
Basically they were giving me fifteen quid to eat a mint cake.

The beer, curry and and a movie offer the Co-op were running earlier in the year was pretty good value. Four cans of 1664 (not a huge fan, but OK with the curry), 2 x curry mains and 2 x curry sides for a tenner, and then a £5 Amazon voucher if you uploaded a photo of your receipt to a redemption site - just a simple £5 voucher, didn't have to be redeemed on an Amazon Video purchase, meaning you effectively got the beer and curry for a fiver. Even if you factor in the Amazon tax on the purchase using the voucher, that's still not bad.

Asda, might be Euro 2024 match days only, pizza from the deli is £4, 2 pizzas, plus a large bottle of coke, £6! No doubt if you went to the till without the drink it would be £8 or similar.
On the OPs situation with a takeaway pizza, the Dominos app is an absolute minefield, you’re having to do a load of mental arithmetic on which meal deals are worth having, whether random unwanted items will make it cheaper and whether it’s worth picking the stuff up vs delivery

True, and you need to buy 4 or more and they freeze well. So essentially depending what you have it’s about £9 or less per pizza for close to restaurant quality pizza. If you don’t live close to decent delivery options then I don’t think it’s too bad.

Been going for close to a decade? I remember using during the 2015/2017. Picked two meaty toppings pizzas too, rather than Margherita plus another.

Mind you, they introduced non-members pricing for this particular deal now. Only a £1 difference though.

Reminds me of ordering a couple of Dominos pizzas while on holiday, and wanting to use a buy one get one free offer that was on their leaflet.

The member of staff was very apologetic that this had finished, but if it was any help he could do both at 50% discount…..
