Any tips please, safest, easiest, most flavoursome way of cooking scallops in the shell.Also,what is the advantage (if any) of doing it this way?

Take scallops, take scallops out of shells, thoroughly clean shells, cook scallops, put back in shells for serving.

Clean them if unprepared, then grill them in the shell, using a very hot grill.

As above, clean and prepare then put the scallops back in the shell and cover with some lovely buttery and parsleyish breadcrumbs then whack under a red hot grill for a few minutes. Quick squeeze of lemon and serve.

Like this in a very hot oven for 10 mins.

Butter, coriander, chili, lemon, salt, pepper

Thanks people, I wouldn't mind but I'm not even invited, the wife is doing it for a girls only dinner party !

In that case you just stick the whole unopened scallop in a pan of cold water and bring it to the boil then simmer - about 2 hours should do. evil
