Always, always adored No More Heroes and Rattus Norvegicus......the Hammond organ and general musicianship is stunning...

Down in the Sewer - rats rally is one of my alltime favourite bits of music, I adore the way the tempo build and then resolves.....

What say you guys ?

I haven't listened to either in about 20 years. Alexa might get some different requests tomorrow.

Great thread starter!

Rattus is a great album. London Lady isn't really typical of their style but it's a great punk record, short and energetic.

Stranglers version of Walk On By is epic.

Got Rattus on the day of release intending to play a track or two at that night's gig.
My memory is we played almost the whole album. Punters (Bath Uni students, as was I) went nuts for it.

Rattus
Brilliant album

All killer no filler (original album was 9 tracks many on line versions have additions)
Graphic swearing for the time too

I'd agree, but then I like most of the rest as well. I transferred the catalogue onto my MP3 player for the car recently and it's surprising how few times I skip tracks, and it does seem to be more often later "Mk1" tracks rather than the more recent stuff.

These two albums are quite closely related in that many of the songs were written over the same period. They'd been playing since 1974, so it wasn't hard to fill two albums in quite short order.

Always thought 'Ugly' was a top tune.

Both great albums, as was Black& White.

Love these guys as it's my dad's favourite band and I've been brought up on a heavy diet of these since I was very small ( I'm 35 now) , have seen them loads live and they're absolute brilliant.

No more heroes, peaches, duchess, golden brown, always the sun, strange little girl, nice n sleazy and hangin around are some of my favourites.

Found myself playing 'Walk on By' late last night. That still sounds fantastic forty years down the line. cool

Still remember hearing it for the first time as it came as a free 7" with Black & White

Awesome band...grew up with them and saw them live at Battersea park when they all got nicked for having the strippers on during nice and sleazy.
