It's sort of expected and sort of a shocker. Either way it's a sad loss A bloody good innings all things considered.
As track #1 on a debut album, I still consider 'Black Sabbath' as the best rock intro ever. Thunder, torrential rain, clanging bells, Tony's two note riff combining "The Devil's Interval" of G and Db, and Ozzy's "Lost Prophet in the Wilderness" vocals are iconic. Forget Ronnie James Dio et al, Ozzy was THE voice of Sabbath.
That he reinvented himself in the early 80's when at a dead end to record "Blizzard of Ozz" is astonishing in itself. Identifying and recruiting guitarists for his band that are still legends today is, possibly, more amazing. The story is that, after long hours in the studio listening to auditions from lead guitar players for "Blizzard", Ozzy was half asleep when Randy Rhoads walked in. Ozzy opened his eyes and asked his engineer, 'Why is there a girl with a guitar in front of me?' (Randy was very slim, quite short, and with long blonde hair). Anyway. Randy opened with a ripping A minor run and Oz hired him on the spot. Ozzy and Rhoads work thereafter are now etched into rock legend (e.g. Mr Crowley). After Rhoads died, he hired Jake E Lee and then Zakk Wylde; both incendiary talents.
A rock legend. Vocalist on some of the best rock tunes ever recorded.
Now, sadly, behind the wall of sleep.

I saw Sabbath twice, ‘98 Ozzfest at the MK bowl.
Young 15yr old didn’t know much about them and again in ~2016 at Download.
Ozzy’s voice had gone by then, but the noise they made was incredible. Iommi sounded like there were 2 or 3 guitarists in the band. Immense. So many defining songs to choose from.
