Anyone going this year?

I'm not a fan (a bit too heavy for me) although I do like a couple of tracks. My youngest is keen on going so I'm looking at buying a couple of tickets. London Stadium is the nearest to us.

Similar in that i think theyre heavy for my taste.
Id go anyway if a more convienient location was available as they are iconic.

Im making do with Iron Maiden in Milan, only because its a bit of a break for the wife smile

Probably, but I'll wait & get tics @ last very min in resale as I can be there in 45 mins.

I'm a WH ST but have never been to a gig @ LS so seeing Metallica there will be cool. Decent supports as well.

If you think Metallica is heavy, you wait til you hear their support act Knocked Loose

Fantastic band but will make Metallica sound like pop music

The first concert I was allowed to go to was with a mate from school on a coach. Happy days. Seen them 3 times now.

Would like to see them in Asia, Bangkok or Saigon would be cool. Would love to see them at the sphere but vegas is just daft costly these days.

I saw them at the Hammersmith Odeon with Cliff Burton on bass and Anthrax as the support band. My first ever live concert.

I first saw them at Donington in 1995, that was a coach trip with lads from school the same as nikaiyo2 above me there, what a gig. First live playing of 2x4 that day if memory serves me. Saw them at Newcastle Arena a couple of years after that with Corrosion Of Conformity, great gig that was as well. Never seen them since though, despite loving them to this daygetmecoat

Donnington 1995 Monsters of Rock for me too as first time seeing them live. Was 19yrs old and it blew me away. Lots of good footage of that gig now available.
Seen them a few times since but not for a few years now but seeing them at Cardiff this year. Looking forward to it.

It wasn't Monsters Of Rock that year if you remember back, it was Escape From The Studio i think they called itsmile Hell of a day though, Metallica, Slayer, Machine Head, Therapy?, White Zombie and Slash with his lads, the best one day bill at Donington ever in my opinion

I so wanted to go that, but my parents had booked a holiday, a fking coach tour behind the former iron curtain. It was bad enough missing it to go t Spain or Barbados, but a post soviet Dresden and Gdansk, but it was literally just before they separated, so it was a very grey fighty trip :P (so glad we did it now seeing how those places were was amazing.)

Going to Cardiff with my eldest, in honesty it's a PIA of a place to get to from here (4 hrs), that said he's giddy with excitement. I did have tickets to the Sunday London show but relisted them as there's no trains back to Chester that worked late of the evening.

I'm assuming tickets will still be £19 or thereabouts?

Saw them at Castle Donington (note the spelling wink) in 87 with Anthrax, Dio, Bon Jovi, Cinderella and WASP. What a great line up that was.

I was at that show - Skid Row also played.

My (mum's) Mk3 Escort overheated in traffic on the way there.

When we arrived, opened the boot & had some (warm) beer and then realised that we'd only brought a bag of tent poles & no tent with us. Assume we drove up the day before, so must've been two nights in the car - I think that there were four of us.

Warrior Soul as well, who were actually really good despite me not much liking them beforehand. We were all 15 and 16 so no driving down for us, very early morning coach from and back to Durham after it was done. Pretty late back homelaugh

Going to one of the nights in London Stadium in July - haven’t seen them live before, can’t wait! Can’t justify both nights unfortunately, despite the promise of no repeated songs, so hopefully one will be enough to hit the spot!

Yes!! Cardiff and really looking forward to it - not seen Metallica since they headlined Big Day Out at Milton Keynes Bowl in 1999. I'm actually pretty excited to see Gojira, possibly at least as much as Metallica - hoping for plenty of tracks from everything up to the black album, and perhaps a few from Load and Reload. Should be ace! beer

I went to that and i remeber a few days before getting a mild haircut as i was told it would make mynhair grow quicker but the moronncut it all off.

I was fortunate enough to see them at a secret gig before Donington one year too.

And Download when Lars was sick. They got a load of other dummers in to play who seemingly could only play old stuff so was like seeing them black album and prior. Was excellent.

Bit off topic but Slayer were incredible too and on a sad note, the post Pantera band were there too. This was 2 weeks before the 2 from Pantera got shot dead.

Going to Dublin. Have seen them quite a few times now, almost double figures I’d say.
Oh the heavier they play the better, lots from And Justice for All smile
Excited to see Pantera too.
