Help!! We’re about to start our first ever hill climb season and are trying to understand the rules/regs on ignition/fuel cut-off and battery isolation when applied to the Road car category.
Our little 07 Clio 197 has a Start/Stop button - does this cover the bases and if so does it need to be highlighted?
Many thanks in advance

Just an 'ON/Off' sticker is all you need. Get a scrutineers decal sheet from someone like Demon Tweeks.

If you haven't already done so, you should wrap some yellow tape around the main battery earth lead, fit your tow hook and obviously a timing strut.

The sticker sheets are n9t up to date, if you use the turnon/off sticker on a sheet you should be fine.

Yellow tape on neg battery lead and towing eye with location arrow front and back, and obviously timing strut and numbers

Good luck with the rear towing eye (there isn't one on a Clio 197).

I've competed in a number of different cars without a rear towing eye and not once has a scrut picked me up on it.

I have been picked up by a scrut on this very thing.

Please fit a secure towing Eye front and rear of your cars. It does make recovery easier and quicker.

Yes, but if it's a daily you need to find a way to get the strap through the rear bumper without cutting a hole in it.

You could do something along the lines of what's been done on mine using a wire type towing eye that passes through a small cut in the diffuser.

That's fine for a "straight" tow, but if you have to be towed out at an angle expect to loose your bumper.

Fair point. I suppose that could be overcome by fitting another one on the other side.

I can't tell from the photo, but it looks like any sideways movement is likely to damage your bumper.

Wont be doing anything this year currently with fuel the way it is, just too bloody expensive to be gallavanting around like this, most of the bloody events are 100 miles or more away start at the crack of dawn meaning really you have to stay away for a night.

Just too sodding dear.

I suspect a few people will feel the way you do. I can see a few events cancelling, either due to lack of entries or lack of marshals etc.

The scrutineers will also need to provide you with a sticker for your helmet ('Approved for motor sport').

I have stuck mine on the right hand side.
