Helo everyone.

I bought my Ultima Evo 2017 last year in August.

Week ago I try to make insurance for my car, non of companies wants to insure my car, some saying it's kit car, bla bla, most said I am not UK resident! 😡

After paying + 70,000 GBP, and DVLA accept the I will be the new owner for the car and registered me as new keeper/owner, the strange thing I read the car should be first insured, then why they agreed and let me pay for this car anyway??
Last week I did MOT, everything went perfect.
Honesty, it's crap insurance system I am experiencing!

Usually I drive my car and keep it in EU, no problem to get 3rd party green card for that, which I did previously.
The problem if I brought the car to UK for repairs and service, plus MOT, I need insurance in UK to cover forvany accidents if it happens.

Also if police stop me for documents, what shall I tell them?
That insurance company are non sense in UK don't want insure my car even temporary for 2 weeks or so so I can drive my car in British road?!
By the way, I paid also 200 GBP, for 6 months!! 🙄

It's not fair what I am having issue with insurance! 😭
It looks miserable I bought this beloved car.

Any thoughts and advise would be appreciated.

Hey Mate,
Thanks to step in here...

in EU countries, I can make green card insurance.
No problems with that I done it last year.

The issue is when I bring the car to UK.

I can even drop the plate number, register it in EU,
But the car as you know it's Right hand version.
If in future want to ell the car I will lose so much from its real value, the car is special bulit, and very unique, it's black evolution. You can't find that car easy in market, not in Europe or UK.

An EU provider should give you cover for this, not a UK insurer

Edit
Did I misunderstand and actually you are an EU resident with an EU car that you've just re-registered in the UK?

Doesn't seem like a good idea when you put it that way.

If it's taxed then you're legally required to insure it. If you can't insure it, then SORN it quickly, and don't drive it on UK roads unless you've got insurance cover from the EU that gives legal coverage on a UK registered car.

Therein lies the problem.

To insure a U.K. registered car mainstream insurers would expect you to be resident in the U.K. and to have a U.K. address.

If you are an EU resident and not permanently living in this country then other than maybe a few specialists you would be considered a too higher risk.

Your best bet would be to register and insure the car in country where you are living. But that also may not be a easy with an ultima.
