Isnt is annoying how they bigged up that £2m Lamborghini for it's big power and lightness, which was still a chunk of time slower around the track than the factory Ultima. Wasnt even road legal. Did we ever find the real reason they pretend Ultima's dont exist?
Maybe in a former life Ted wore the wrong aftershave when meeting the TG Polit Bureau many moon's ago!..or maybe they took a dislike to Richards tee shirt...or weekend get-up!

(sorry Rich, Ted, I did promise to be a good boy didn't I?..sorry! ..it slipped out..)
..I dunno...
It seems very silly... especially when you know that TG regularly (well! They have done in the past), feature an Ultima in their show at Autosports arena...
Nothing makes sense on the surface, however, I do suspect there are things we don't know that have contributed to the situation, and since this query has been going for some time, I suspect we will never get to really know why!
What I think many of us owners would like though (and have a vested interest in) is some sort of public acknowledgement from TG that this car is fantastic for what it costs, and will challenge almost any supercar for top spot on the TG circuit.. Officially!
Yep, I know Ted & co (bless them all) went to great lengths and some expense both in time and money to hire that circuit and break the record unofficially (in terms of TG) - but wouldn't it be a fantastic coo if it could be done on telly!
What could we, the Ultima fraternity, do to help the factory get this done? Factory?

Yep! ..and I think it was singly ignored!
Think there was an old thread on here somewhere!

Is it time for another go at TG execs?
The Likes of Fezza, Lambo, Pagani, koenigsegggggggggggg, would probably throw their toys out of the pram and not let TG rag them round the track anymore.
It would cramp their style if a "back yard" (no offence factory) outfit were made TG King of the track time leader board, kind of humiliating for the big boys wouldn't you say?

I'd like to know the reason why Ultima have never been on TG formally, but I suspect we'll never get that....
Would the big boys throw their toys out of the pram if an Ult did beat them? I doubt it. We've seen Caparo, Ariel, Caterham, BAC, etc all go out there and give some great times.
However, I'm not sure I'd want an Ultima on TG.... the guys are merciless in their abuse of cars and ANY malady would be made public in a very big forum. TG don't have a good history reviewing kit cars, so I for one will be happy for this one to be forgotten about.

+1 They would make it an 'entertaining' piece for their 12 year old audience.
Plato isn't much better either.
The other manufacturers often turn up with a team of guys and cars so that if there is a problem they can swap cars/parts. They burn up tyres and put considerable stresses on the entire car in the name of "entertainment".
While as a viewer it is fun to watch it must be a very painful (and expensive) experience for a manufacturer, unless the review is a glowing one.
Part of the ownership fun is the fact that most people don't know what it is. Those that do are usually pleased to have seen one "in the flesh".
Other fast car owners seem wary of the car because it looks fast and most don't want to be embarrassed especially if they have a passenger.
You still get nobs in white vans who know their van is faster and want to prove it by overtaking with oncoming traffic!!!

I went to the show TV recording a couple of years ago. Basically they dont really have an interest in cars. its just a TV show with some cars in it and old blokes messing around.
One problem with the ultima is it was too fast. If you think about it, if you have a show which has lots of cars all about the same speed and then another one comes along and is a tenth of a second faster it add to the interest. If a car leaves everything standing, whats the point of doing another test? its a TV show, not reality. they want to keep it going and the cash cow alive as long as possible. if the ultima did a lap time just a tiny bit faster than say the second car on the list, it might get shown.

I disagree with that.
they showed the fxx being 5 seconds faster and discarded it because it wasn't road legal.
they showed the aerial atom being seconds quicker, and some of their ultra quick cars and then others caught up, and filled the gaps.
plane and simple its a kitcar that puts the manufacturers to shame. if topgear showed it, the others wouldn't lavish them in toys to play with and go off to the usa or all round Europe.
