I'm getting to the part of the build where the covers are cut and shaped and I suddenly remember that perhaps I saw some rectangular alloy frames in a box which probably sits between the cover and chassis cross bars. I can't put my hands on the parts and before I empty all my workshop, can someone confirm that my memory is correct and such parts are needed. Thanks

Correct! They sit between the chassis and the sill cover to form the opening. You'll not need them to do your trial fit & trimming, only for final fit.Daniel

Found them! Does one glue them to the cill? The Factory manual doesn't mention it...
Bond them between both surfaces using PU sealant.Don't forget you are not riveting (or drilling) the outer edge at this stage just leave the edge with the side pod top lip able to move under the sill top.

Steve, yes I know about not drilling rivet holes on the outer edge of the cill cover, but if I read you correctly, the side pod lip slips under the cill cover when riveting the two to the chassis frame? I may be wrong but in this picture you appear to have the wrong cill top.The cill top surface comes across from the inner chassis tube, passes over the filler ring then joggles up and over the top edge of the side pod. In the picture it looks like it joggles down.
When you have trimmed and established the correct position for the cill top you can form the curve over the inner chassis tube and rivet it in position along that tube. At this stage don't drill and rivet down through the top of the side pod as you may need to make final adjustments to the position of the body later.
