Toyo R888

Hi all,

I'm pondering tyre choice, and am leaning towards the Toyo R888. A quick question which I know has been asked before but I am struggling to find a definitive answer to - what size tyre are those running 888s putting on the front wheels? I understand that they don't make the 'standard' ultima size (245/35).

Also, any suggestions on where to buy them from would be similarly appreciated.

good tyres for a track but i think there isn't rear.
they are not longer in production 335.30. 18

Khumo do both standard sizes and aren't bad on the track.

If you plan to use the car in the wet on the road then think again as these track based tyres need very careful use and may see you in the Armco!!!

I used toyo on the rear of mine and they were mega.
I ran the kumo front and the combo was good as the front had mental grip and rear when it slid was progressive but very grippy tyre in dry and wet.

I now have kumo front(as they haven't worn yet) and mitchelin ps2 rear.

the mitchelins are nice but certainly not as grippy as a Toyo, but will last longer.

this year im widening my front rims and then I will get 255/265 or 275 mitchelin fronts and grim and bear it as its not often on the track,

Dom, I think you will have problems with directionality on the road.
too loose
and during tight turns and slow to be even more understeer
I also believe in on the scratch card headlight protection

Thanks for the replies all. Whilst it is totally irrational, I accept, I would just prefer to keep all 4 tyres the same (bar size, of course). Since there doesn't seem to be a clear choice of size for the front, and it would seem the rears may be hard to get hold of, I might go for something at bit easier to sort.

I have not checked myself regarding sizes available, but what about the possible choice among Pirelli PZero Corsas and Michelin PS Cup tyres which are both road legal?

I think the widening will be ok on mine as martings wide fronts are mega on the road and not twitchy.

The other problem I have is speed ratings, so been looking at the cup tyres.

Comparing to PS2 - slightly more grip, lasts longer on track. Better braking definitely.
On the road not too much difference

Thanks for this. Do you have any trouble (clearance or otherwise) with the slightly higher profile on the front?

no problem, but I changed camber settings to -2 degrees front for track use...
