Im looking to buy a new TV for the flat and have this one in mind http://ao.com/product/42lf580v-lg-tv-silver-35704-... Its 42" LG. I currently have a LG and always ran it through a stereo to improve the sound.

We decided that maybe a Soundbar would be a good addtion and found these 2 options max spend of £100:

http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-and-home-entertain...

or

http://ao.com/product/las350b-lg-soundbar-black-35...

Im not the best with these types of things so are these 2 good? Anything I should be looking for in terms of spec?

The LG one is probably the better bet as you'll be able to use the TV remote to control it.

If the TV is a different make to the soundbar you have to program it to accept commands from the TV remote, and in some cases this can cause problems (on some TVs if you mute the speakers you can't adjust the volume).

Make sure the TV has an optical connection - I recently purchased a TV and soundbar both of which were LG - the TV didn't have an optical connection so had to change the TV for one that did.

I've got the Samsung one in the spare room for the PS4, for the price it sounds good and is a vast improvement over the TV Speakers

I recently purchased a 40" Samsung and tried both soundbars and soundbases. The Canton soundbase won. Proper bass, no external sub or long plasticky black thing under the TV. Very, very good sound.

Any more opinions on this? I was looking at the Sony soundbar CT80 for less then £100. The next one up from Sony is the CT380 @ 300 watts but it's double the budget. I've done the whole 5.1 surround speaker system but very rarely use it now and want to get rid of the unsightly speakers in the room.

Are the soundbars much better than standard TV speakers? I've got the last gen Pioneer plasma for ref.

Our LG one arrived yesterday. I need to get a cable for it, but we ran music through it via Bluetooth and the sound was pretty good. We live in a flat so don't need anything amazing, but happy so far.
