AV Receiver help
Discussion
Good Morning all,
I am currently looking into AV receivers for my new man cave and need a bit of guidance.
the room is quite small (couch to screen of about 10ft) and has a pair of ceiling speaker above and behind the couch position.
I have capling in place for 2 additional speakers behind the couch which may or may not be necessary.
so where do i go from here?
could i use the ceiling speakers as uppers for atmos? or as the room is small would these work as surrounds and go for a better 5.1 amp or better front speakers?
I have a UHD tv, so pass through is important but would upscaling be a good route? or is the train of thoiught to leave upscaling to the tv?
inputs are a HTPC, xbox one, xbox 360.
I need to get speakers but i'm happy to compromise now and replace with better in the future, i.e. next year.
my budget is around £550 for the AVR and speakers. must be new ( missus' stipulation - dont ask)
richersounds has a deal for the Yamaha RXV679 (no atmos) and tannoy TFX 5.1s which looks good.
the pioneer rsx930 has atmos and upscaling but is apparently a sod to set up and i'm a novice. can get it with TFX5.1s for £540 from amazon.
i've heard good things about Denon but i think i'd be left with minimal cash for speakers and end up with something shonky looking.
any advice would be appreciated.

I had the Tannoy speakers and was a little under whelmed with them
This looks like a pretty good set up for a little over your budget

RS normally price match and have a £100 off deal if you trade in an old amp ,so would be worth getting them to set one up to have a listen to it

that looks perfect, if i didnt already have the ceiling speakers installed. i did look at that system to see if it would take 4 ceiling speakersThis looks like a pretty good set up for a little over your budget

the tannoys would be upgraded over time to something more suitable.
the small size of the room makes it challenging as I guess that it would be easy for the sound to mess up or overlap
