Samsung LED TV, Vertical lines
Discussion
Hi all
Looking for some help with a problem that has just started on my TV.
Details : It's a Samsung UE46D8000YUXXU. Bought in March 2012 so just 4 years old.
The TV has developed some lines down the left of the screen (about the first 5 cm) and also similar on the right but only ~1cm in from the side. Attached is a close up picture but not sure you can see the problem very well. On matt single colour backgrounds it appears as grey streaks mostly.

What is happening / gone wrong ? What can I do about it ?
I've already tried the basics of resets, turn on/off and have also updated the firmware which has made no difference.
For a TV that cost £1400 new, I would expect more than a 4 year shelf life, what are my options ?
Thanks for any help on diagnosing the fault, options in fixing it and thoughts on warranty / sale of goods act or other recourse.....

I got the 55 inch version and the same problem started on mine many months ago. Bad news is it will get worse. Now I have many lines right across the tv. Green and red is mostly affect. I removed the back of the telly to look for dry solder joints and any build up of dust but it's all I closed in except for a few circuit boards. I don't think it's the LEDs because they wouldn't all have the same problem it's got to be something that runs them. That's just my opinion which could easily be incorrect. I'm just carrying on watching it regardless because I have a projector to use if I want to watch something important.
Hmmm. That doesn't sound promising.
It's not a problem at the moment as its only in the sides of the screen so definitely watchable. In fact I had to point it out to my wife who hadn't noticed it ! It was a bit more obvious when watching football due to the blank green of the pitch.
Will just have to see how it goes, wasn't planning on replacing the TV any time soon !
