attic aerial vs cheapo compact aerial

Gents,

Please can someone tell me if there is a massive difference between having a proper aerial mounted in the attic and the little compact aerials that go straight into the back of the TV?

We have 4 TV's and trying to work out the best way of getting a signal to them all. I am loathed to run aerial cable to them all and then into the attic which would be a massive faff.

Any wisdom much appreciated!

All you can do is try one out, buy from somewhere you can take it back. I've had little success with them over the years. Best aerial is outdoors on a chimney or similar.

I've just ordered the biggest Log Periodic aerial from them for the loft (hate having the ugly aerial on the chimney), a half dipole aerial for FM for fun too.
