Ive been with Sky for ages, but thinking of leaving now my contracts expired.

Im after a Freeview box, but one that can also record on, and will support apps (netflix for SWMBO, Youtube for the kids etc)

This side of £100 preferably.

Can anyone recommend something that fits the bill. Im finding it all a bit confusing!

its over budget, but I can't fault my BT YouView+ Smart 500GB Freeview HD Digital TV Recorder, it replaced my humax 9200T, its fast, gets update frequently, has iplayer, 4od, itvplayer, netflix, but NOT Amazon prime and not plans for it. I think it has youtube (would need checking)

the apps work quickly and seamlessly, and the EPG will search for a program due on air and also search the "players" if you missed a program, v cool.

it has an app so you can set programs to record from your phone, v v cool ! (its limited that you can't see what is already set to record, but is very useful)

it is pricey up front, but had zero problems with it.

I just bought one of these from eBay for £55 delivered, similarly replacing an ageing Humax 9300T.

All seems good so far - it's great to finally be able to record in HD!

Edit: Plex / Youtube accessed with a £15 NowTV box

Youview here too - it works great for all the catchup services and netflix.

It's supplemented with an Amazon Fire Stick for Plex and Youtube.
