JBL Control X in a bathroom?
Discussion
So, I'm in the middle of having a bathroom re-done.
As part of this, I've conjured up / convinced the wife that an epic bloke-spec shower was absolutely necessary. As part of this, I've decided that I'd like some music piped into the room. In line with wanting to further expand my sonos system, I've ordered a Connect Amp, which I'll put int he loft space above the bathroom. I don't think I'll have any issues with signal strength as I have a Sonos Boost already up and running, which successfully feeds the play one I have at the bottom of the garden in the man-cave.
All that is left to do then is buy some speakers. I'm aiming to avoid ceiling mounted ones as they are both harder to fit, harder to remove and can cause issues given that the house is old and the ceiling is all lath and plaster. Having just seen the electrician wrestling with the downlighter holes I just don't fancy it.
So my thoughts are that a smallish outdoor spec speaker would be ideal, and could be neatly wall mounted in the corners of the room. In searching I came across the JBL Control X which seem to tick a lot of boxes: Established brand, outdoor / all weather compliant, available in white, 8 ohms etc...
But I can't find any decent reviews of them. Anyone got any experience of them?
Thanks all
JD

Have a look at the Climate range from Monitor Audio and similar from Origin Acoustic and Sonance.
To be honest you'll only need a 'dual stereo' which has left and right channels in a single box.
But cutting a found speaker hole in the ceiling really isn't that hard, especially as you have access to the loft above.
Where are you based, happy to help cut if you're near by.

The JbL's will be amazing compared to an in ceiling.. But won't having pro audio style speakers in your bathroom be a combo of overkill and terrible asthetics? Bearing in mind that whatever you do a bathroom tends to be echo-y, I'd stick with an in wall or in ceiling. Not my house tho!
The Control X's aren't that small and will look out of place in a bathroom (as would most surface mount speakers).I fitted a load in a pub, they do sound good but as I say, out of place in a bathroom.
How about cutting 1 hole and fitting a stereo input speaker for both left and right channel? http://kitchenbathroomradio.co.uk/speakers/speaker...
Or can you mount a speaker in the wall/cupboard or similar? I didn't have much ceiling space in my bathroom so I fitted a single stereo speaker in the cupboard wall (plasterboard) with a square grille. Looks and sounds good and you barely notice it's there.
I really would recommend in ceiling/wall speakers over anything else for a bathroom. Alternatively some smaller satellite speakers (although keep them out of the shower).

I always liked the look of the JBL Control Now, think it's a clever idea. Only mono (unless you buy 2) but a neat solution. Also they do wireless version of the Control called 2.4 (or similar) that way you could just use the line out of another device and are active so no need for an amp. I considering them for my garden.
