Can anyone recommend a TV that is at least 48" within a budget of £500.
It will be connected to Sky HD and won't be used for anything other than watching Sky, no X-Box or Play Station games or Apps.
If it can be found in Tesco / Curry's etc that would be great.
I had a look and its not as easy as it used to be !
Thanks all.

You can't go wrong with a Samsung - this one (non 3D) is even cheaper http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-and-home-entertain...

Even though you say you won't be doing anything else than watching Sky on it the Smart interface on these Samsungs is excellent and if you have a good internet connection I guarantee you'll be watching Motortrend, Evo, Petrolicious etc in no time.

I just (last Monday) paid £499.99 for an LG 49" smart Tv, 4k etc with a 'mouse' and a 5 year warranty. It was from a local shop but 'Euronics' so I believe all those affiliated are doing the deal. It's great... so far!

Sony KDL50W805 is reviewing well at present and is £529 in Currys or £549 in JL with a 5 year guarantee (so advice is to go to JL and get a price match), I'd like to get into a store and see one.

I really need to get an replace my broken Panasonic plasma but haven't found anything I'd pay money for yet.

I was looking at the above mentioned Bravia for my games room but decided I'd just go for the 48W705 as it still got excellent reviews. Argos are selling it for £399. Arrived yesterday however they had sent me the 2016 version, the KD68 which is currently £549 elsewhere. I was well pleased.

That looks decent, nice upgrade too!

Thank you everyone for suggestions and comments.
To bring the thread to a close I bought this one:-
Samsung UE48J5500A 48 Inch Full HD Freeview HD Smart TV.
It seemed like a safe bet, just waiting for the plasterer to finish then will hook it up and see what it's like.
Thanks again.

Excellent stuff. It's always good to finally commit to something and get it bought. Hope it serves you well.

I picked this out for my parents recently as a replacement for their old LCD. Impressed with it so far. Always been a fan of Bravia, only reason I instead went for a Samsung for my room was the 4 vs 2 HDMI ports on the 40" models. But their 50" has 4 ports so no issue there.

The TV was on sale at Curry's at the time, and I got a further 8% off through my works discount so it worked out at just over £400.
