Hi all,

Any chance one of you experience people could assist with my set up please?

I currently have the following and would like them all connected up nicely so that everything gels and runs smoothly;

TV
Virgin Tivo box
Sound Bar
Blu Ray Player

I currently have to switch on the components separately, then switch the TV setting to HDMI to pick up the Virgin box, another remote then controls the volume from the soundbar and another for the Blu ray.

Is this normal or can it be refined?

If you need any more info let me know.

Thanks thumbup

I have similar.

I pick up the remote and push the custom button on the screen that says "Watch TV" or "watch DVD" or "Listen to Sonos". Magic then happens.

Thanks!

It's difficult without knowing makes and models of your equipment, and then it'd take someone a fair bit of work to sort out the best way of doing things. However, with the soundbar connect it up with HDMI if you can, you should then be able to use HDMI CEC (different manufacturers call it different things, Samsung call it Anynet+) then you should be able to use the TV volume controls to alter the soundbar and you don't have to worry about switching inputs for the audio. Failing that you could use the headphone out socket of your TV (I'm assuiming you are using optical at the moment) but might lose some quality. Hope that helps a bit...

To be honest if you want it all to work as seemlessly as possible you need a AV reciever with enough inputs and to route everything through that (assuming your soundbar doesn't have enough HDMI ports for all of your equipment?). Then the single remote on your AV reciever controls input switching and volume control.
