Right then. I'm really ashamed about this but for the first time on a technological thing I'm stumped. What was a £25.00 purchase now seems to be escalating very quickly budget wise but before I spend anymore money I feel like I'm missing something. confused

Here is what I have;
An Amazon Fire TV stick.
A Plusnet Technicolor TG528n modem.
A TP Link AV50 Powerline Wifi booster. (uses the electrical wiring to transmit the wifi signal.)
A Panasonic LCD HD ready TV (which does not have internet built in.)
A flat built in 1962 with very thick concrete walls and floors.

I was aware that my wifi signal was poor as the modem is in my spare room along with a my computer/printer/phone line & my signal in the lounge (which is the furthest room in the flat from the router.) is rubbish. The bedroom signal is always ok to middling.
My local computer store advised me to go for the TV Link AV50 system as they reckoned I had a much better chance of getting an improved single in the lounge with that rather than a new router with bigger actual wifi signal.
At the moment, I have 13.19mb broadband speed but if I upgraded to Fibre it would jump to 80mb.

Results.
Since I fitted the Wi-Fi booster in the lounge, the signal in there has improved to my IPhone but not to the Fire stick/TV. This is still rated at "marginal" according to the home screen.
It seems to make no difference with or without an Ethernet cable to the either the booster or the TV.
It seems to make no difference with all other wifi enabled devices turned off.
The booster is right by the TV but not plugged into the same plug socket or any extension lead. (neither is the booster right by the router.) I have also tried it plug sockets further away from the Tv in the same room and in the hall which is half way between the TV and router.

Errr... help?

Reset the Firestick and set it up again. It sounds like it's still associating with the router and doesn't want to move to the booster.

Perfect!!! PH saves the day yet again!!

I'll blame the instructions on wifi booster as they didn't emphasis enough that you needed to use their password rather than your plusnet log in/password. I'm watching the C4 Grand Prix - The Killer Years now and don't think I'll be moving for the rest of my day off.

Thanks!! thumbup
