Samsung F-series IR passthrough
Discussion
Hi all,
Hoping this is a simple one.. I have a Samsung F8000 Smart TV that is connected to a Denon AVR via HDMI, which is itself connected to a 4x4 Matrix via HDMI.
I have previously been using the IR blaster supplied with the Matrix to control it, but it looks rather unsightly and doesn't help me control the amp (the IR out on the Matrix is already going to the front of the Sky box to allow me to change channels).
The TV has an IR out and comes with an IR blaster of its own (currently unused). What I was hoping to do was run a 3.5mm male-to-male cable from the IR OUT on the TV, to the amp - which has an IR IN and IR OUT of its own, and presumably rebroadcasts any signal it receives - and run another shorter 3.5mm cable from the amp IR OUT into the IR IN of the Matrix. In essence this would in theory allow me to control TV, amp, Matrix (via amp) and Sky box (via Matrix) from the TV's own infrared sensor.
Has anyone tried doing this before? Thanks in advance
