Mounting sony tv on vesa bracket

ordered a 55" sony tv - can these be mounted using a standard wall mount as the 32" i bought couple years ago could only use sonys own bracket which doubled up as a stand.

Using the model number and the manufacturers website find out whether the mounting is VESA compliant and take it from there.

ive looked on the sony site and it says my tv 55w829b should have 4 holes. There are only 2 on the back! Why cant they have a normal bloody vesa mount!

I have the 50" version and used this to attach it to the VESA wall mount. http://www.tvwallmount.co.uk/service-kit-sony-kdl-... There are 2 screw holes on the raised bit and 2 lower down that need the raiser screws.

I have the same Sony in 55", and it's fine for a VESA mount. You just need some spacers and longer screws at the top as the back panel is deeper at the bottom than the top; I had to order the spacers separately. Two of the VESA holes will be in the thick bottom part of the TV, so less obvious.

Googling the model suggests two probably backs.

One like this (I've circled what looks like the mounting holes);


And one like this which looks like the stand does indeed double as a mount unless the bits I've circled are vesa compatible mounting holes ;

There's a common confusion over wall mounting this model of Sony TV. The 50" is not VESA compatible and needs the adaptor to use the stand as a wall mount. The 55" and above are VESA compatible, but need a pair of long screws and spacers for the top mounting holes. I think that's the difference between the two photos of the back of the TV; one is a smaller model than the other.
