Evening,

Moved into a new house and there are a pair of mysterious cables that I don't know what to do with. (I assume tv of some sort). They disappear into the wall. Thanks

Connect them to your Sky box.

Yup, get a sky box or satellite PVR.
Congrats on the new home!

Ah ok, they come out of a weird box. It's all a bit of an odd one. We don't have a sky box frown

Does the house have a sky dish? If so it will probably give you a better reception than a normal aerial. You just need to get a cheap sky box. Otherwise if you don't want them then you can rip them out and take the dish down.

Doesn't have to be a Sky box, you can use the same dish for Freesat too!

ETA. It looks like you have a twin LNB dish, hence the two cables.

I have a humax freesat box that's no longer getting used. You can plug it straight into those cables and get free satellite channels.

PM if you want it

Actually, does Virgin Cable look like this still? one for phone/broadband, one for tv?

Definitely Sky dish connectors, I don't have a Sky box but my TV has free sat so I plug one of those into my TV and use Free Sat.

I'm not sure about virgin. But they are both coming from the dish and have nothing to do with broadband. Although you probably will connect to broadband either using wifi or an ethernet cable. The reason there are two is do you can watch and record at the same time.

I think cable will have crimped on connectors (and usually a wall outlet), those look like screw-on types.

And yes, I'd recommend a Humax Freesat receiver too.

Don't rip them out, might come on handy as you work out what is going where with it being a new house.

They definitely look they like a Sky plus set up to me and as others have said they can be connected to any number of freesat boxes.

Interesting to see what happens with this technology as Sky move to a satellite dish free service.

I prefer a dish that only messes up under extreme weather conditions to one that is exclusively reliant on my broadband.

Long time before they pull the satellites down.

I work from home and if the OH is on her favourite YouTube channel:
'Hard labour tasks for your other half to do while you point and watch'
Then my 'productivity' sufferes (ip phone goes tits up and salesforce dies a death)

Actually, shooting them down would be a North Korean master stroke.
