Chaps, please can I ask some advice. My father in law has just moved into a new house and had ask me to help set up the existing sonos system and I haven't got a clue!

Here it is....

There seems to be about 7 or 8 rooms with ceiling speakers. He has a Samsung tablet.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

They look like Connect Amps, each one will run a zone/room of speakers. You need to download the Sonos app on your phone or tablet or computer. If the system has been registered by the previous owner, then you'll need to start from scratch and reset the system, set up a new account etc. Quite simple to do in the app.

They'll need to be connected up to the internet and the local WiFi network.

Loads of help on the Sonos site

Good luck! As said there are loads of help topics on the Sonos site. Post back here if you need more help.

Remember, there are two types of setup, Standard and Boost. I suspect all the Connect Amps are wired by ethernet back to the network switch in the pic. The better set-up will be 'Boost'.

There could be some Sonos Boost or the older Sonos Bridge elsewhere in the house, they are a small white box which extends the network, they may show up when setting up.

The Connect Amps have a Aux/Line input, possibly the Sky box has been connected to one or all of these, this will allow the Sky audio to run through the system, check the connections.

Also seen on the pic the middle unit has no LED, hopefully it's just unplugged.

Tel him it's crap and will never be reliable, best off just ripping the whole thing out. I'll give you £100 for it just as a favour wink
