If you download the My Sky app and are an existing Sky TV or BB customer you can get a free DVD/download from the store (13.99).

There are other benefits too dependent on how long you've been continually with Sky. I got free Sky Go Extra with my gold membership.

You don't if you have a break in your contract like I do, beacuse Sky could not provide broadband to our rural area, so we tried virgin media for a year, that was Sh*t so we went back to sky.

But no we don't qualify for VIP status, despite paying over £70 per month for the last 23 years!

Pretty sure I will be telling them where to stick there contract I. The morning!

I'd give them a bell, they're still rolling this out so it's possible they just haven't added you yet. I think 0-3 years gets you silver and the free DVD/download.

Are you 100% sure you aren't connected to them in some capacity?

You're the second person to query that.

Other than being a customer no I have no connection to Sky or any ancillary companies.

Look this is all over the news. I just thought I'd share the deal with my fellow PHers. I might think twice next time.

The cynicism is strong here smile

What Sky have sneakily neglected to highlight in any of the info, is that if you're a Sky Premium account holder and you put Sky VIP on your phone you're resetting your contract back to 18 months! that's very naughty, they send you an email confirming that VIP costs you nothing but in the T's&C's they reset your contract....

I think i'll be giving them a call in the morning to cancel the service.

Any reasons I shouldn't do this?

I just read and seems the 18 month thing is only for Sky Q.

Also, is it possible to see what tier you;d be without signing up to it?

I may not be understanding you correctly, are you saying that having added this useless service my sky tv contract has been reset to another 18 months?

I checked for this in the Ts&Cs before signing up and didn't see it, I also found this on the sky website

Does joining Sky VIP affect my contract?

No, Sky VIP is free to join and you don’t need to change your contract or re-contract to be part of the programme.

Cheers for posting, I get a free dvd! Not sure I'm that fussed about longer term offerings but a free dvd is welcome.

hmmm, not actually sure I'm that fussed about any of them!

I got VIP Black on signup and thought the free SkyQ upgrade was tempting. But you have to take multiroom (which we don't need) at £12 for 18 months which works out more than a £199 standard install. And allegedly if you call to cancel, retentions offer you SkyQ for free anyway.

Loyalty scheme makes a lot of sense given Sky have proper competition these days.

The extra devices for Sky go will be useful and got a film for free I was about to buy smile

Be interesting to see how this impacts my bill. Free fibre will presumably mean a reduction in my monthly costs since I currently pay for fibre.

Free fibre? Isn't it just free setup?

Ah yes, free setup.

Hmm, I read that wrong, bugger

So for "Platinum VIP" all I get is a free film and some mobile crap when I don't have sky mobile? Wow, thanks Sky that £100 a month I spend is looking like better value all the time.

We enjoyed "Beauty and the Beast" the other night for free. Then when the DVD turns up I'll flog it on eBay, so they're paying me! What's not to like?
