New TV to replace Pioneer LX6090

Can someone recommend me a TV 60"+ to replace my pioneer, Budget is 4k

A lot of ex-plasma owners now enjoy OLED screens.

Almost all of the benefits of plasma without the huge weight, heat and appetite for electricity and them they add smart functions, 4K and HDR.

One or two nay-Sayers went for LCD - they have different eyes to most humans

Your budget will get last years almost range topping LG 65" E6.

A bit of haggling might get you a 2017 B7 or C7.

Samsungs version of OLED is not called OLED, but I cant remember what, it is a play on their QLED (Quantum Dot) tech names.

Also Sony and Panasonic are a pair of the best out there at the moment.

And also consider HDR, a reviewer rates HDR10+ and Dolby Vision if you can find a screen with it now, or wait, they are deffinately coming.

QLED is Samsung's Quantum Dot LED - they don't have an OLED offering (which I'm sure was the point you made). It's a great technology and the advantage over OLED is the price due to easier mass production. OLED still wins however with it's colour accuracy and contrast levels from what I've read.

I'd be happy with a QLED having seen a few BUT, with money no object, I'd go OLED.

It's a bit of a shame Samsung don't make an FALD (Full Array Local Dimming) at the moment, to get the best out of LCD tech (QLED does still use LCD) this is the kind of backlighting you want. It does make the TV a bit thicker but it's worth it as you get better backlight uniformity, local dimming and more brightness...I think if I were after a high-end LCD (I'm not, another OLED convert here I'm afraid) I'd want an FALD one...Sony and Panasonic do quantum-dot LCD screens with FALD backlights them I think? (probably what prompted Vex above).

Agreed - get this LG OLED offering, or the E7 version. No question.

I used to have a Pioneer KRP500a and now have an LG E6 55" and the picture is head and shoulder above the Pioneer.
