My parents are looking at buying a new OLED LG

tv https://www.johnlewis.com/lg-oled55b7v-oled-hdr-4k...

They plan on using the Sky Soundbox as a sound upgrade when it's released, my question is as the Sky Soundbox doesn't come with Dolby Atmos, would they be better looking for alternative soundbars which supported Dolby Atmos??

Depends really, a decent soundbar without Atmos will be better than an average one with it.

Only issue with it is no sub out, but it does say it goes down to 35hz which if true should be enough.

But being made by Devialet it should be pretty damed good.

Thanks, I’ll tell them to go with the Sky soundbox for now as it’s quite reasonably priced & as you say the partnership with Devialet should make it a decent offering, if they were to go with another sound bar it would be a lot more than the £249 that sky are charging for theirs.

My only concern with it is the way it works it needs to be free so it can bounce the sound around, so on the table, and it is quite big, which means if the TV is not wall hung it will block the bottom of the screen.

The tv will be sitting on a tv unit, maybe the sky soundbox won’t work after all unless my parents use a glass stand that’s open all round. I know they were looking at a new unit which would have been enclosed.

I would wait to hear from owners, from the description it looks like it fires from the sides etc. as well to bounce sound round the room and I think it also has drivers tat are firing upwards too.

If that is the case it needs to be sat on top of the cabinet.

But it may just be the way they are marketing it.

I have a Goodmans Base.

It's incredible value for money.
