Obv a typo not Tvr at all just TV........

Hi all, can i please get a few opinions on the following.

We want to upgrade our tv and DVD player to decent quality 49" led Tvr and sound bar system. Looking to spend around £800 ish, sound bar about £200 and blue ray around £100. There are so many options out there it's very confusing, I would appreciate any valued pointers. Also we thought about using a Bose Bluetooth dock instead of the sound bar as it will all work together apparently. Advice please.

Seeing as you're getting a 4K TV you might want to up the BD budget a bit and get a 4k player.

Soundbar, again a bit over budget but these were £650

Your choice should be easy then!
Only LG sell a LED TV, all the others are just LCD panels with an LED backlight. LG call their LED boxes OLED (Organic LED) to distinguish them from the other manufacturers who are cheekily calling their LCD displays LED.
Not sure you'll get an OLED in budget though.

Hint:
Ultimately it doesn't matter what tech the manufacturer uses to supply the image quality that you find yourself pleased with.

OP's budget doesn't really allow for OLED (LG and Sony) or QLED (Samsung). OLED starts at 55" (bigger than the OP said he wanted).

Samsung do a 49" QLED but it's £1300.

QLED is still a backlit LCD.
And yes, I agree that OLED is out of range. My point is that what's marketed as an LED TV is actually an LCD.

I thought that Sony had dropped their OLED offering, but I could easily be wrong.

Not sure Mike, think Sony use LG panels for OLED.

Despite what the marketing may suggest all the displays are LCD. An LCD itself does not produce any light and in a TV application they work with a light source behind the display. LED simply refers to the light source being Light Emitting Diodes. Some have more LEDs than others and by controlling the intensity of lots of individual LEDS on more expensive offerings they can be dimmed or turned off completely when required to produce better blacks and dark colours.

Take care in the show room as they will mostly be showing data on a high resolution HDMI input rather than off air. Also when choosing remember there is only so much data available so as the screen gets bigger the resolution goes down.

Channels that are available in HD just about match a CRT but others can be a bit disappointing if you are used to a proper old telly. Other than the viewing angle there is not a lot to choose between offerings in a price range on picture, some however have more friendly software so try using the remote and program guide before you buy.

Panasonic, LG and Sony have OLED. It offers outstanding picture quality and the technology is way ahead of what and LCD can offer I include QLED in that which in my opinion is just a LED with an extra filter. LED/LCD is 15 years old. OLED is the technology platform for the future.
