Just taken delivery of a 55” Sony TV.

So Sony in their very finite wisdom have fitted a moulded plug (so far so ordinary) but bizarrely they have also fixed the cable to the back of the TV.

WTAF?

Like many people my cables pass from wall or table top through narrow holes to power sockets. Holes too small for a plug.

So do I have to cut off and re-attach a new plug or can I unscrew this panel and somehow release the cable from the rear and then re- attach?

Why does a vertical iPhone picture turn 90 degrees? frown

Anyway there is a join all the way around this panel and a small screw so it looks like it can be removed.

Just nervous about warranty issues and don’t want to take a look if there isn’t a solution behind

Does the manual not mention anything?

Just cut the plug off and put a new one on, like people used to do in the olden days before moulded plugs.

If it's like my new Panasonic, you can unscrew the panel, unclip the cable and slide it out. No need to cut off the plug.

Smiler.

I'd fit one of these to the lead from the telly (assuming it will fit through the aperture in question):

Then use a kettle lead for the supply.

Don't forget to use a surge protected socket wink

Manuals don’t exist these days. Even if I went on line I doubt it would have instructions explaining their idiocy and how to overcome it by unscrewing the rear or cutting off plugs! smile

Yep, same on mine. Unscrew the panel and you're fine.

You would have less issues warranty wise cutting the plug off than opening up the connection plate.

As said already, just cut the plug off and fit a new one.

I'd have thought it was designed like that to allow you to thread the power cable through for wall mounted setups, otherwise why make it like that? Can't imagine it'll cause any warranty issues.
