Bi-amping? - what is happening here?
Discussion
So...was testing a set of Eclipse 508’s next to my old Epos stand mounts and instead of disconnecting the Epos’s i kept them plugged into the amp while also running the eclipses.
So Epos are plugged into a nap 150 power amp which is receiving signal from the pre-amp section of the uniti atom
The eclipse’s are plugged directly into the atom speakers outputs.
What have I created here?
And if I’m not about to blow up my system, could I take off the plates I the back of the Epos so it just drives the bass?

Errr...
You’re driving both pairs of speakers with the same line signal using different amplifiers for each pair.
The sound field and stereo effect will be a mess but you might like it (as some did 30 years ago with A+B speaker switching on huge 80’s Jap amps driving two pairs of speakers).
If you like the Eclipse, do it properly and add an active sub rather than risk shorting the Eops and the amp driving them by disconnecting tweeters.

Not bi-amping as such as if I understand correctly you are running one source into two amp/speakers, more multi room in the same room?
Bi-amping would be either using spare channels on a multi channel amp or using separate identical amps to run separate signals to high and low frequency drivers.
I bi-amp using a dedicated setting on my 7ch amplifier as I only have a 5 speakers seems to give a bit more clarity & definition.

I reconfigured the internal amps on my yamaha AV amp in order to bi-amp, big and worthwhile difference
Same here. I think it helps with clarity stopping high & low frequencies interfering over cable length and allows the amp more power to drive the fronts. In the old days I i used solid core cable to give tighter bass in speakers that were otherwise lacking. This thread has ressurected this idea and I may keep the mulitstrand for the higher frequencies and switch to solid core for the bass.
My speakers are a bit weird having twin passive subs and conventional full range fronts. I could probably tri-amp them but that means getting a 9ch amp!!!!
