Mark, would love to hear more about the Panasonic if you get time! Still in the deciding stages and going down the LG C8 route at present.
Hi Alex. I’m extremely happy with the Panasonic. The proper depth of blacks, the brightness of whites (but all crucially looking very, very natural) & contrast is quite frankly amazing for a television IMO. Motion & clarity are also on another level from anything that I have had before – coming from a 50” Plasma & also a recent 42” LED.I have scoured virtually every bit of the 90 page section on the Panasonic FZ800/2 thread on AVForums (I don’t take these purchase decisions lightly) and never found anything on there that would truly put me off and absolutely nothing in reality so far in the very short period of time that I’ve had mine – occasional things described on there such as a feint stuttering/juddering now and again and crushed blacks (no such thing!). But I don’t profess to be any kind of Videophile and I don’t do any ‘gaming’ etc. I also haven’t had a proper play with any of the picture settings apart from going through the multitude of pre-set options which show some serious versatility.
My main comparisons were alongside the LGC8 & Sony AF8 in the usual showroom environments (JL & RS) and in the end, I could see very little between the LG & Panasonic, but I went with the Panasonic due to a combination of what I could see, the deal I could get and my previous experiences with the brand.
Having not even contemplated the top tier OLED units in the £3/4/5000 price bracket, I do genuinely think that the FZ800 is kicking out the best television picture that I have ever seen in a house.
Bad bits? Not really bad…but the remote could be a bit more substantial feeling – hardly a deal-breaker. More annoying is the rear cable cover – if you have an Optical cable fitted, the cover cannot be installed correctly and more importantly, if you are utilising HDMI ports 3 & 4, the cover will not install at all. To be fair, this is not a problem at all with the TV sitting on its pedestal (a very substantial powder coated metal thing), but could be for someone wanting to wall-mount the unit and use all of these connections.
Finally, a nice surprise is the sound quality on this unit. It really is pretty good for a standard setup and (slightly embarrassingly) I’m not sure my Bose soundbar is actually any better in reality than the built-in 4 speaker arrangement. I’d love to go back to a 5.1 surround sound, but the way our lounge is configured just won’t allow it.
In the end, it’s a tough (1st world) decision, but I’m sure you’ll be extremely happy with whichever unit you decide to take.
Let me know what you decide?

We have only had our Tv for a few days but would agree with with Mark's comments.
The picture is very good, i do think that all TV's in the price point are very close in preformance and its more at choice of price and personal perferences.
Yes i do live in Sunny Meltham...

As far as I can work out I don't think I'll notice or even realise the slightly better image on the C8 and the other things it boasts over the C8 just won't get used (120hz HFR+HDR, and that extra filter for banding).
Gone with LG because I really like the UI and smart features.
We're upgrading from a near 10 year old 32 inch Samsung LCD (CCFL backlight no less!). So it's going to be a radical step up anyway. With the saved £300 I'll grab a decent sound bar. I'll get more benefit out of that than marginal gains on the image I think.
Rational choice and hopefully a good one!
