Hi all

Thinking of installing an "outdoor" projector area. I have myself a Optoma HD28DSE which i am considering installing in a dry covered enclosure.
I have seen a few companies which do outside electric and tensioned screens.

Have anyone one seen or got an outside area and put a projector out for the summer?

Thanks

No, but very interested to know how you get on smile

We have a white rendered wall that I can put a reasonably sized image on and am wanting to do outside "cinema" for the kids this summer.

It's unlikely to be fully dark when it gets used.

Interested to hear how your projector fares or if others have alternatives.

I wouldn’t put anything outdoor even under a cover that’s electrical.

Dew and mist will get it to it as will the heat and the cold. I would make a position for it to go in and then install when you need it or look at IP65 projection housings that will set you back in excess of £3k.

Why not just a white wall atleast you can paint it when it looks off.

That's what I'll be doing....

Just need recommendations on which projector I should buy (hopefully £500 or less for a decent outdoor/twilight 10-15ft image smile).

I'm thinking of installing one in my outdoor bar. The projector would be covered but the bar is open to the elements on the front. Maybe an electric screen off Ebay. I've never had a projector before. Do they need to be pitch black or can they work ok in light. The model I'm thinking of is an epson tw650.

So can easily move it outside. Shop around for good price as they are often on sale. To try one a picture quality is better than the spec would suggest.

If you want to use a projector outside in the day, you will need a LOT more light than you might think (if you want to actually see anything meaningful).

Are you thinking about using this in the day time? if so give up now and don't waste any more time on the idea smile

If you are going to use it in the evenings, I would look at ways of making it simple to bring the projector inside when it's not in use, they really don't like the damp.
