I just collected an Epson Lite 1960, second hand purchase.

The screen, as per photo, is red on the right hand side. The bulb light is flashing also. Despite being told the bulb was replaced last month (still waiting for the receipt, lol)

My question is two fold. 1) it definately is the bulb, (before I spends on a new one!)

2) Do original Manufacturer bulbs - yes or no? - Is the problem here a crap bulb was used?

Any helps appreciated!

I have this on mine and have been told it is indeed the bulb but you can try reseating the bulb and that might assist.

Ps reread your post and it says a new bulb was fitted - mine did it straight after a new oem bulb was fitted and the seating wasn’t correct. I just took mine out and put it back in.

I wonder if when they fit yours it was this issue.

mmm, I have requested the paperwork to ensure it was replaced. I have tried the reset but it hasn't worked. I presume it is a low quality bulb and that might be the issue....

I ll get it home tonight and give it a proper once over, clean the filter, lense etc and see what other jiggery pookery I can come up with

There should be a bulb hours reading in settings but its really a time since the reading was last reset to 0 hrs.

Of course it only works if they reset it when installing the new bulb.

Thats what I was thinking. I paid 150e for it, so I was expecting some issues!

Looks like it's green on the other side too. I had this on an older Panasonic LCD projector. It was caused by the filters/prisms having moved. I managed to re-align them, but it had to be done with it powered up, so not recommended if you aren't a qualified electronics engineer or similar. I wouldn't bother changing the lamp as this is unlikely to solve the problem. As you say for 150 Euro you can't expect much, but it should at least be working properly and it doesn't seem to be.

It won’t be the bulb unless it’s not seated right, which is hard to get wrong tbh.

I would guess the panels have moved, it’s a service job, probably not worth it :-(

It’s the panels not the bulb. It is scrap. You will be able to sell it on eBay for something as people do buy broken projectors. I suggest buying an epson tw9400 instead. They’re decent for the money.

Yup, seems to be a dodge purchase. If I am play largely dark screened games or movies it isnt massively noticeable, so I will suffer on with it.

I think if I am going down the more expensive route it will be on a TV or sorts....keep the projector for outdoor movie nights,

Thanks all

There is a good chance this can be fixed. I would have a go first (or send it back to seller).

That’s integrator burn which can’t be adjusted. It’s a replacement lens required and very hard to get. Yes needs to be calibrated under power so I would say time to replace. Second hand projectors usually have issues.
