I have a new garage build and I’m looking for the best/cheapest way of getting music into the garage, it’s right next to the house and there’s an Ethernet cable in there, however I only have 2 Ethernet posts on the sky q hub, both of which are used.
Mainly just listen to playlists on YouTube etc.
So how do I go about getting a connection in the garage, and a decent set of speakers for it.

Use a wifi-to-ethernet box on the house side of the wall, plugged into the cable that runs into the garage?

Can you elaborate the set-up?

I'm assuming you have Sky Hub in the house but that only has two Ethernet ports. You have a Cat5/6 cable to the garage but nowhere to plug it into the Sky box.

If this is the case then yes you can use a network switch Sky box side. I would recommend you get a gigabit switch rather than the 10/100 linked above. Something like:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/NETGEAR-Ethernet-Unmanage...

The garage side, if you need more than one ethernet port - eg: music and cameras you can just use another switch (like above) or alternatively just run another Cat6 from the switch in the house. If you want wi-fi in the garage too, then you can plug an AP into the switch. I like Ubiquiti kit, this would do the trick:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ubiquiti-Networks-UAP-AC-...
or cheaper but with more set-up
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OpenWRT-BT-Home-Hub-5-V...

I use a chromecast audio (via ethernet: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UGREEN-Ethernet-Adaptor... - also work with wi-fi but my garage walls seem impervious to wi-fi) in my garage with an amp and 2 wall mounted Mission speakers - does the trick and cheap enough.

Thanks for the reply.
Aye, in the house I have a sky q hub with 2 ports, one of which is used for the hive and the other goes to the tv.
I ran an Ethernet to the garage from the house but have nowhere to plug it in. I don’t know if it is a cat 5 cable.
Unfortunately now running another cable from house to garage isn’t really an option.
I’ll go and check out your links, thanks again.

I now have access to another sky Q hub, if I were to plug this into the Ethernet cable in the garage. What would I be able to do from there?

It depends how locked down the Sky kit is, but potentially yes - do the settings allow you to disable DHCP?

If so, look for any guides online to run as an access point,

Funnily enough, I have a set of Mission bookshelf speakers and an old (NAD) amp in my garage, fitted with a plug in Bluetooth receiver. My WiFi works in the garage.
