Sonos set up help
Discussion
Hi
Can anyone help me? I have 2x Sonos Play 1 which have run flawlessly for ages. I have just upgraded my WiFi to a google mesh system and I cannot get the sonos to work with it.
I have followed the instructions in the app and connected a sonos to the router with an Ethernet cable, but it does not find my new network. What am I doing wrong?? Thanks in advance!

It’s not going to help but I had/have similar issues with my sonos system.
Made some changes to my WiFi (changed provider/router etc about a year ago and since then getting any of our devices to see them has been a nightmare.
Spoken to sonos helpdesk numerous times including web chats, phone calls, appointments where they have access to our actual setup and it’s still 50/50 as to whether they’ll work every time we try to.
Now sonos have dropped the ability to stream music from iPhone means I’m looking elsewhere.

Hmm can I make it forget that network? I don’t know how I switch that network off. I have a virgin super hub which is crap with poor signal despite using a WiFi extender. Therefore I set up a google mesh network which is fab. Plugged it into the super hub and worked straight out of the box. Everything else works off it printer etc without any problem.
Had a very similar set of circumstances with a friend's set-up recently.
If using any type of external router or mesh set-up with a Virgin hub, the hub has to be set into modem mode - which will switch off the WiFi signal from Virgin altogether.
Your Google equipment will then transit the only WiFi signal in the property, and avoids you having to switch between networks - because there will only be one. Everything has worked fine for him since.
Don't recall the exact web address for Virgin hub log-in - but there are plenty of YouTube tutorials on switching to modem only mode...

Just an update to close out this thread. Did a factory reset on the speakers and it looked promising but failed. The additional thing I had to do was to also reset the controllers ( ie all the iPhones in the family). Bingo it all worked. I still have 2 WiFi networks but sonos is now functional on the google mesh. Happy days! Thanks for all of the suggestions.
