Soundbar connection help
Discussion
Just bought a used Yamaha YSP 2200. Old, but good quality compared to the cheapo LG unit I had before.
I want to get the best out of it, I've let it do it's thing propping a microphone up on a cardboard stand and running the setup, all fine, if a little alien feeling.
I'm very much a novice when it comes to the input / output though. I just have an optical cable going from soundbar to TV at present. It is playing sound correctly that way if I'm using Sky or have the Xbox on. I have HDMI ports on the soundbar as well though, do I need to use these?
Looking at the quick reference guide I have, it seems to suggest using the HDMI ARC terminal on the soundbar to TV, and this would negate the need for the optical cable, is there any advantage in this?
