Looking for a relatively inexpensive Soundbar (+/- woofer) that also has the ability to stream audio to Bluetooth headphones so I can watch with the TV on silent. Is this a common feature or not?

I know Bluetooth is often on a spec sheet but normally as a receiver rather than transmitter.

Budget is as yet unset but thinking low cost/entry level mainly.

Some of the Yamaha MusicCast bits can transmit bluetooth to headphones instead of to the speakers, but i don't know if the soundbars can.

It's not obvious how to do it (I found it by accident).

Would be worth checking.

Can the TV send to your bluetooth headphones directly, or dongle etc?

You can get Bluetooth transmitters that can relay the sound of your TV without the need of a soundbar, Not sure if Soundbars actually transmit to bluetooth headphones .

I got on off Amazon for about £20.00 came with an optical cable too. Tidy cheap bit of kit tbh.

My thread... with thanks to the PHers who helped me to get this far.

My TV has a TOSLink (optical) output which I previously used to send a signal to my Sonos Playbar. I wanted a quality Bluetooth signal for a pair of headphones, which meant using the same TOSLink signal, so I bought a TOSLink splitter and a dual Bluetooth transmitter (so my wife could use headphones at the same time as me - useful if we watch TV late, with our son's bedroom being above our lounge).

Works a treat. The received signal is top quality thanks to it being digital right up until my Bose headphones turn it into sound, and all I need do to quieten the Playbar is press mute on the TV remote.

I was just thinking something similar recently; we have a 2 bed and if the wife has her mates round (like tonight) I'm relegated to upstairs with my tablet.

I have a reasonably up to date Samsung 4KTV and soundbar set up in the lounge and a set of decent Bowers & Wilkins, Bluetooth headphones, however I can't connect them to either the TV or soundbar, I just think it's weird in this day and age!

My TV is a 55" 4K Samsung and I think is constrained to only allowing Samsung headphones to connect via Bluetooth. Certainly nothing that I have will (all non-Samsung), which is why I bought the Bluetooth transmitter.

Was keen to avoid a transmitter and get a 2-in-1 solution but thinking this will have to do now.

Annoyingly my Sony headphones with dongle won't work either.
